A Fluty and Saxy week at DR TOOT

Good evening, from DR TOOT, Zara, and to other cat lovers. Yes, winter is here, yes, it gets a bit cold and yes, it (Rico) still shares same room with me when we sleep. It is cold at nights, I know he is cold, but must he always share my basket and takes up all the room !??? Get in your own basket !!!!!!

It’s been a very fluty week this week. On average, about three to four flutes a day come to daddy’s flute’s spa for rest and restoration. I wish I could get that, but with Rico always around I can’t. Daddy loves doing flutes and mummy is always cleaning and polishing the keys and bodies. Daddy seems to have all the easy work. Poor mummy…

Yesterday, a young student that goes to a school that daddy teaches at bought a beautiful Yanagisawa alto sax with a blue fluffy thing inside it. It look like a floppy hairy sword, but daddy said that it was to protect the pads. It made a lovely sound and he was very happy :-)

Also late yesterday, a gentleman who travelled all the way from the North Shore came in to try two of DR TOOT’s lovely pre-loved saxophones. I must admit, that I love the sound of a saxophone. It was the first instrument I heard when I was only six weeks old. He fell in love with one of them. For me, they all sounded the same, but to him, they were different. Daddy and he talked about dark sound and bright sound and something about tone. Rico’s tone is bright and annoying. Always about food and food. Give it a break, Rico ! One thing the gentleman mentioned, which pleased me was that he reads my blog every Sundays. What a good man ! He has taste ;-)

Speaking of taste, a yummy beeeeeeeeeauuuuuuuuuuutiful vintage saxophone arrived on our doorstep from Japan. Mummy and daddy have been looking forward to this moment for a while. To me, a sax is a sax. But, to mummy and daddy, this one is special. It is a Yamaha YAS61 in new pristine condition. Original case, mouthpiece, strap…the lot. This instrument maybe old, but she looks very young…like our mummy. Not old like…daddy. Sorry, daddy :-)

Tonight mummy will be listing two alto saxophones that arrived this week and next Sunday list four clarinets that also arrived but need DR TOOT’s TLC first ;-)
