Alert Level 4 again…Lockdown cha cha cha !!!

Hello, lovely people, followers and my farrrry friends around the world 😺 You might have heard by now (the readers in NZ, of course, you are in the same big ship !), New Zealand is now at the Alert Level 4 and we are in lockdown…again 😿

When Zara and I heard that Mummy and Daddy were saying the word “Delta” “Delta”. We seriously thought that another cat is joining us…hehehe.  As you know, Delta is a new variant of COVID and much stronger than the first one….so, one community case was found last week and now there are the total of 72 so far….scary !

In New Zealand, “Lockdown” means really “lockdown”...mummy or daddy goes out for only grocery shopping or walking. Our showroom/workshop has been closed for the public since last Wednesday. Well, Mummy and Daddy are still working as they do from home anyway. For the team of Zara and I, our life is still the same and I am stuck inside as a house cat anyway ! My older sis, Zara does not go out much anymore….she seems to be happy staying inside all the time nowadays.

Just before the lockdown, the new arrival of the pre-loved Yamaha French Horn YHR567D and Yamaha Bb clarinet YCL450 have found a new home. The French Horn has found a new home locally and the clarinet has gone to Hastings.

Mummy has listed another new arrival of pre-loved Selmer Paris 10Sll Bb clarinet which was just serviced by Daddy. Also, there are pre-loved saxophone mouthpieces x 10 added too.

Although NZ is in lockdown, in our little bubble, we keep going !!!  Happy Tooting to all, be safe and be kind like me πŸ˜»

Strangers Everywhere!

This is my home. Daddy always says…in the beginning there was Zara. This week has been a bit out of the ordinary. As you all know, we get many customers that come and go in the course of the week. Some stay for a little while and some a little longer. This week we were invaded on Thursday and Friday with outdoor gardeners pulling up bushes, trimming this and that and making more noise than an Alfa eating her favourite meal! Lawns and gardens being sprayed, blowing machines blowing and strangers talking. My estate is getting a makeover and it seems that I don’t get a say in this. A few weeks ago, two trees that I sharpen my claws with were removed.  I will keep a closer eye on things from now on and have my say!

The week started off with a hiss and a roar with 2 saxophones finding new homes. Both instruments were alto saxophones, a Yamaha Silver YAS62 and a Matte Finish Chateau. For stock, Another YAS62 Alto Sax has arrived and 2 more Chateau Alto Saxophone have been ordered and should arrive in the next few weeks. Taka has been very busy working on a vintage Buescher Tenor Sax and setting up a Yamaha Bass Clarinet that was a special order from a customer of ours and picked up on Saturday early afternoon. Taka is now very busy working on a few major works so Alfa and I have been told to stay out of his way 😼

Daddy has received some new dent removing tools that he has used already on a Bass Trombone and Full Double French Horn. Both customers are very happy with the work done and one of the customers gave Mummy and Daddy some homemade jam 😻. Nothing for me… Mummy has been busy with packing, invoicing, customers, shipping and receiving goods. Apart from me, I believe she is the hardest worker 😸

Daddy is still very busy playing his tuba. Monday night was rehearsal with Manakau Concert Band, rehearsing for a concert and Festival in 5 weeks, Wednesday night rehearsing for Howick Brass, rehearsing for the Brass Band Championship in 3 weeks, Friday night rehearsing for a Brass Quintet gig they did on Saturday morning in Howick and Sunday afternoon rehearsing with the Manakau Symphony Orchestra, rehearsing for a concert in a couple of weeks time. Busy busy Daddy. Daddy’s son stayed with us on Saturday night, so my time as you see has been changed a lot.

I must stop now as even writing this makes me feel so weary. Be kind to all and special to cats that have ideas of greatness but are, well, you know… Alfa’s time next week..

I Still Got It!!!

It was a short week as my big sis, Zara just did her blog on Monday.  The week has just disappeared ! It was a beautiful Saturday yesterday and now it’s raining again on Sunday…

Taka had his longer weekend and came back to work on Thursday ! It was a good to see him again. Without Taka, mummy and daddy had an interesting and busy Tuesday and Wednesday.

Mother and son visited DR TOOT on Tuesday and he tried a pre-loved Buffet RC Bb clarinet. He was a bit nervous and wasn’t sure about the clarinet. They went home without the clarinet and then they came back to try it again the next day. He was quite different and he played it very well this time - Yes, Zara and I heard that he played the clarinet ! So, they left with the clarinet this time 😺

Then, the same day, mummy had a phone call from Lewis McCallum, who is a professional saxophonist who lives in Auckland. An hour later, he was here to test lots of mouthpieces and saxophones. Again, Zara and I heard his playing. Wow…..what a sound ! Mummy took videos that he was playing Chateau alto sax and tenor sax. He loves Gonzalez reeds and saXholder too ! 😻

Daddy was happy to receive new toys…Ups, I mean new tools from USA for his repair work 😹 Also, two pre-loved instruments and some accessories have arrived from Japan. The two instruments are a Yamaha alto sax YAS275 (a special order from a customer in Hastings) and a Yamaha clarinet YCL450 (a very popular intermediate wooden clarinet).

I had a privilege to walk around and stay with mummy and daddy at the showroom while mummy and daddy were working during the day. It’s good to see lots of displayed beaaauuuutiful instruments there. Even I caught a fly….and of course, I ate it…Yum, Yum, Yum…mummy said to me “I still got it 😼 !” hehehehehe…😸😸😸

Stay warm and Happy Tooting, Everyone !!! 😻

We are back !

Alfa (A):  It was my turn for the blog last week, but I could not do because Zara and I were at our cat hotel “The Loft” near our place.

Zara (Z):  Yup, mummy and daddy had a short break and went to Brisbane. So, we had to stay at the Loft. They seemed that they had a very good time in Aussie and refreshed 😸

A:   Indeed, but you didn’t enjoy staying at the Loft…as always, you hissed well at everybody, I mean every cat….hehehehe. Even you hissed at me too ! πŸ™€

Z:  Oh, well…you know, I do not like changes at all - I love routines !!! I am Queen Zara after all, you know.

A:   I love our routines too, but I did enjoy staying at the Loft J For me, it’s good chance to meet other cats...there were funny cats…

Z:   We missed lots of news…sounds like lots of things happened while we were away. A couple of brand new Alpha Bb clarinets arrived safely from Backun in Canada.

A:   Yeahhhh, more Alfa 😸 Daddy said to mummy to take a picture of me and Alpha clarinet together, hahahaha.

Z:  I think one Alfa is enough here. Well, some pre-loved instruments have found their new home in the last 2 weeks and we are very happy about that. Also, the DR TOOT Team is back…Masaru came back from Japan and Taka had an awesome time in Rotorua too.

A:  Yes, now mummy and daddy are busy preparing goodies for the University of Auckland Clarinet Weekend which is happening this coming weekend ! You know, I saw and helped mummy to pack flyers, pencils, ball pens…etc. for participants. Oups, I cannot say much…. 😎

Z:  The office is a full of goodies  😊and more pre-loved clarinets are on the way for the Clarinet Weekend. Hopefully they arrive soon and would be ready in time !

A:  I must say this…YOU did POO πŸ™€again….in our brand new carrier…on the way back from the Loft !

Z:  I know and we don’t talk about that  😼 I was too excited to see my daddy. You followed mummy like a lost sheep when we got back. I had some dignity !

A: Even though, we had customers today – a father and daughter team came all way from Thames ! Sorry, but we didn’t move…
Z: Yeah….we stayed on our blankies…J anyway, we heard the sound and we thought that she made a really nice sound ! She’s been learning for only a year…she really liked the Yamaha alto sax YAS62 with 62 Neck, so she has left with the saxophone.

Alfa (A): Thanks, Zara…we had a very good year together at DR TOOT ! One year has just gone so quickly. On Christmas day, daddy, mummy, and Fumi went to see their friends for lunch and dinner, so we had a very quiet day at home together, didn’t we ?

A: Yes. I love having brushing by mummy J You seem to not like it at all…always you grunt to mummy and your face is just like Grumpy Cat !
Z: Grumpy Cat !??? Oh, no way….I am Queen Zara…not like her !!! Her face is always grumpy and ugly !

Happy Four Years Anniversary !!!

Alfa (A): Yes, it is the fourth year anniversary for our blog !  So, my big sister Zara is here to share the blog with me J
Zara (Z): It is a DR TOOT’s tradition…I have to share the blog with Alfa.  I cannot believe that it’s been the fourth year since I started the blog and it is still going on !  For you, Alfa, it is only the second year ! You are lucky…still here.
A: Of course, I am at DR TOOT J I am a big girl now ! I actually might be bigger than you….Look at the photo !
Z:  Yeah, you eat a lot…that’s why ! Well, no time to talk about you…we must celebrate the anniversary and talk about DR TOOT !
A: Mummy and daddy have been very busy as usual, and it’s good thing even mummy doesn’t have much time to play with me…
Z: This week, we met daddy’s old customer  who is a professional trumpet player and met daddy in 70s !
A: Waowww…that’s loooooong time ago !
Z: Yep, daddy had long and lots of hair…skinny young man with no tummy J The customer tried our pre-loved trumpets and cornet, and loved one each of Yamaha trumpets and cornets.  So, he purchased both of them. He played them very well !
A: Yes, I heard that too !  He gave us his latest CD kindly and mummy plays it all the time now….nice Jazz music and I quite like it too J
Z: On Friday, we saw that our handyman came back to our place, and he was making noise at daddy’s workshop.
A: Daddy had his workbench done.  It looks nice…I had a chance to have a look J
Z: I saw that too. He wants to do something more, but he has to wait because he is thinking to buy another tuba !
A: Ahhhh, yes, I’ve heard that mummy and daddy were talking about Miraphone, Yamaha….Japan, Australia…I didn’t understand.
Z: That’s OK, you don’t need to understand…you are still too young to know lots of things. Well, the school holiday has started here and more instruments are coming for repairs and services.
A: Daddy and mummy were working today…then, daddy is cooking for mummy tonight.
Z: Daddy is good boy, good boy JJJ Happy Anniversary and Happy Tooting, everyone !!!

Happy Three Years Anniversary…more to come !

Alfa (A): Ahhhh, Zara told me that it’s been three years since this blog started.  For me, it’s been a few month, but Zara said that it is very important to share the blog together for this anniversary.  So, she is here….
Zara (Z): Yes, it is a kind of tradition now at DR TOOT.  Every year we celebrate our blog anniversary.  It is supposed to be Rico and I, but….
A: I know, he is not here anymore….The new “Little Gem” looks much nicer than the first one, and I guess mummy and daddy are very happy about it.
Z: Yes, I think so too.  I think also that Rico is pleased about it.  This time, I hope the tree will grow and grow !
A: Mummy and daddy seem to be very happy with the beautiful garden, lots of work and everybody including us are all very healthy.
Z: Healthy…you are very healthy and getting bigger, which is no wonder, because you eat most of my food !  I never had this problem with Rico, but there were issues.
A: Issues !???  I think you wrote the book on issues.  Get over it, Big Girl, because Alfa is here to stay and keep this blog tradition going J
Z: I guess you are right about keeping blog current and active, but I have no issues and I remind you to keep your place.  I AM Zara, I AM Queen and you are NOT.
A: I know I am a little princess JJJ and in time you will be an old prune.
Z: You are missing the plot.  This is about the blog and many stories, feelings and events that happen at DR TOOT’s.  It’s all about DR TOOT and Me, and you and mummy on the sideline.
A: Back to the blog, we have had a very busy week, being last week of school holidays before schools start tomorrow.  Everything will be back to normal.
Z:  That’s right.  Students’ lessons will start again and as before I will be there to great them and encourage them to work hard.  Daddy like me has high standards and the two of us make it happen.
A:  Nowadays, you spend most of the day sleeping and dreaming.  I think you are in one of your little dreams now.  Wake up, Zara !  Anyway, let’s take this time to hold each others paw and I wish ourselves a happy three years anniversary and look forward to the next one !
Z:  If you are around…meow meow meow…
